Surprising Facts Apartment Renters Should Know About Foreclosure

Brooklyn, NY – Wednesday, October 14, 2009 – Bridge Street Development Corporation (BSDC) cordially invites those who are interested in learning about "Surprising Facts Apartment Renters Should Know About Foreclosure" to participate in it’s FREE educational Internet Presentation (Webinar) session from the privacy and comfort of your home or office. For those who do not have access to a computer, they can register at the Restoration Computer Lab located at 1368 Fulton Street (between Brooklyn & New York Avenues), 4th Floor on Wednesday, October 7th and Monday, October 12th between the hours of 9 – 10 AM and 6 – 7 PM. BSDC understands that there is a wealth of information available to protect the owners; but if the homeowner goes into foreclosure, will the tenant know what to do: "Surprising Facts Apartment Renters Should Know About Foreclosure" will address such questions as follows:

• Review the Tenant’s Rights and Responsibility during the Foreclosure Process
  
  
• Learn how to spot the signs if your landlord is in foreclosure?
  
  
• Find out the legal way to pay your rent during the homeowners foreclosure process
  
  
• What steps should the tenants take after the foreclosure sale regardless of their rental status: Section 8, rent regulated and /or unregulated apartment, written lease, month-to-month, no lease and other federal subsides.

BSDC has created a program that will educate the Central Brooklyn communities about avoiding foreclosures. The goal of this campaign is to provide a resource that the residents of the community can rely upon for up-to-date information to help homeowners prevent their homes from going into foreclosure. For homeowners that are currently in foreclosure, counselors from Bridge Street Development Corporation will work with the mortgage companies and the homeowners to find the best possible solution. This Internet Presentation is an added resource to educate and inform residents to "Know the Steps, Know the Options, Know Your Rights!"
